How to: create a stunning hanging basket

Add an extra splash of colour to the outside of your house this summer with our stylish hanging baskets

 

You will need:

Hanging basket

Newspaper/dust sheets

PlastiKote Outdoor spray paint in Cameo Pink

Compost

Plants

How to:

  1. Make sure the basket is clean and dry.
  2. Spread newspaper/dust sheet out in a well-ventilated working area or preferably outside.
  3. Apply two to three coats of PlastiKote Outdoor spray paint in the colour of your choice. We chose Cameo Pink.  Allow 5 – 10 minutes between coats.
  4. The basket will be touch dry in 30-50 minutes and thoroughly dry in 2-3 hours.
  5. Plant up and hang for a colourful display – even before the flowers have bloomed!

 

N.B. Always remember to follow the instructions on the can.

Reader projects: upcycled tyres

Thank you to Emma Freeman who has amazed us all with these fabulous upcycled tyre planters. Truly gorgeous and a welcome addition to any garden. We were very tempted to remove the spare tyre from the boot of the car and transform it immediately!

Top tip: perfect prep for metal

When metal garden furniture looks past its best, a spray paint facelift is just the job. To get the best result, preparation is key.  Our top tip is to use a wire brush or wire wool to remove all flakes of old paint and rust. Wash down with soapy water to get rid of any dirt and grease and leave to completely dry before applying the spray paint.
