  1. Thinking of spray painting a Lloyd Loom style chair (basket weave effect) with one of your spray paints, probably blue. The finish on the chair is a cream-coloured gloss I applied about 30 years ago , so oil-based (I’m led to believe applying water-based paint to an oil-based finish can result in a reaction), & the chair is in a bathroom, so condensation. Can you tell me if a chalk spray paint is suitable & will it need waxing, difficult to do with a chair of this style? If chalk paint & waxing is unsuitable can you suggest anything else? Owner of my local hardware shop was unsure what to recommend.

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Alan Johnson (UK)

    1. Hi Alan thanks for your question. Chalk would be suitable to spray on your Lloyd Loom style chair but we would suggest using a primer first to create a barrier between the oil-based finish and the Chalk paint. We can only suggest rather than advise as we don’t know the formulation of the paint you used 30 years ago so we would suggest spraying a test area first on the underside of the chair to understand what sort of finish might be created. We have had success in these types of projects previously. We hope this helps.

  2. I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the Etsy voucher. I have bought myself some really beautiful things and I can’t wait for them to arrive. It was just the pick me up I needed and, again, just huge thanks.

    1. Ah, and thank you for your lovely comment.

You’re more than welcome. Hope your lovely new things have arrived. 🙂

  3. Hi,
I recently bought some Plasti-kote 21118 400ml Premium Spray for painting a Polypropylene chair. I was going to spray straight onto the chair, but now I’m wondering if I should use a primer on the chair first. What would you advise? Many thanks.

    1. Hi Tessa
      Apologies for the late reply.
We would recommend the application of PlastiKote Plastic Primer before using the premium spray paint to give extra adhesion.
      Kind regards
