Top tip: how to spray paint when it’s cold, raining or windy

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is how do I spray paint when it is cold, raining or windy?   The answer is simple – we use a garage or shed and a cardboard box as a spray booth. A spray booth is easy to make and store, extremely effective and usually free!

Get a big box – the bigger the better.  Set it up in your garage or shed, preferably on an old table already covered with newspaper or cardboard. Place the object you want to spray inside and then spray. The overspray stays on the inside of the box.  It’s ideal for small things and we like to use either a shallow cardboard tray or something similar to place items on so that we can take them inside to dry where it’s warmer. For our loo roll holder, we used an old bathroom tile.

You can collapse your spray booth after using and stack it against a wall, ready for next time.

If you have an extra box or two – flatten them to make a large liner for the floor.
